Class Refund Policy
If at any time a training customer is not totally satisfied with their training experience, they should first contact their instructor. If they are unable to resolve the issue with the instructor or prefer not to deal with the instructor, they can contact the Training Manager, Kate Carpenter. Contact can be made in person via phone at 207-443-9554 or via the e-mail address given at the time of enrollment. Additional contact persons and information may also be listed in the Student Support Information form presented to students at the time of enrollment. Concerns will be addressed promptly.
Customers not satisfied with their class will be given the option of retaking the class at no cost or receiving a pro-rated refund for the class less the cost of any training materials or textbooks. In the event that students cannot satisfactorily resolve any concern with Burgess Computer, they should feel free to contact Harry Osgood, Maine Department of Education (phone: 207-624-6846, or by using the Maine Department of Education email contact presented at the time of enrollment).
Full Details regarding our multi-day training Registration, Cancellation, Refund & Refresh policies can be found below as indicated by the "Multi-Day Training Course Policies". These policies cover CompTIA A+, Network+, and similar multi-day training courses.
Multi-Day Training Course Policies
Burgess Computer takes pride in offering small classes, to allow plenty of instructor
interaction. Most classes have a maximum enrollment of 8 students. Seats for these
publicly-offered classes can fill quickly, so it is important to reserve your seat early.
Registering & Tuition Payment
To reserve a seat in a class, at 2 months or less from the class start date, students must
submit full tuition payment upon registering. In most cases, Burgess Computer accepts
Training Authorizations/Vouchers from government agencies and approved government
grant administrators as sufficient to hold a student's seat; any questions about training
authorizations can be directed to the Burgess Computer Training Manager.
Early registration
If registering more than 2 full months before a class, a 50% tuition
prepayment will reserve a class seat up until 2 months prior to the class start date. The
full tuition due date is the date 2 months prior to the class start date. All pre-payees
must remit the remaining 50% tuition payment by the full tuition due date. Emailed
invoices will be sent to pre-payees registering within 30 days of the full tuition due date.
Formal invoices (usually sent by mail) will be sent to pre-payees registering more than
30 days from the full tuition due date.
Late registration
A late registration charge of $50 may be applicable for all individuals
joining a class 5 days or less from the class start date, in order to allow for expedited
materials acquisition and workstation provisioning. All reasonable efforts for timely
materials acquisition will be made, but registrants enrolling 3 days or less from the class
start date may experience delays in receiving courseware.
Cancellations & No Shows
If Burgess Computer must cancel a class, students will be given the choice of either a
full refund, or a full tuition credit to apply toward a future class.
For students cancelling a registration, full refunds are available for cancellations up to 2
weeks before a class start date. Tuition for cancellations received in the 2-week period
prior to the class start date can be credited to your account with Burgess and applied to
another class and/or another student (see Substitutions below).
If no cancellation notice is received by 4pm on the day prior to class, and the student
fails to attend class, the student shall be considered a "no show". "No show" individuals
will be sent all course materials, and will be permitted to apply the missed class’ tuition
to the next available offering of the class (space permitting), provided they contact the
Training Manager at least 2 weeks prior to that next class offering.
Substitutions
Student substitutions can be made at any time, provided that the substitute individual
meets all class pre-requisites. It is the responsibility of the sending organization to
appropriately demonstrate a substitute's fulfillment of pre-requisites. Student substitutes
sent after the commencement of a class are subject to the approval of the Training
Manager.
Refresh Audit
Students who might benefit from revisiting a class they have recently taken may be
eligible to participate in our Refresh Audit policy.
- Refresh Auditing only applies to those class that are exactly the same curriculum as
the student’s original class. Updated courses do not apply (i.e., auditing a course
covering A+ 2009 objectives after taking an A+ 2006 objectives course).
- Refresh audits are available for up to one year after the end date of the original
class. However, there is no guarantee that a repeated offering of a specific course
will be available in that time.
- Refresh Audits are only available for students who have completed and paid for the
entire original class. Students who did not show for the original class, or who
dropped out of that class without reasonable explanation and consultation with the
Training Manager will not be permitted to audit.
- Students attending as a Refresh Audit must use in class the course material from
their original class. If the instructor has since chosen different course materials, the
student is responsible for purchase price of the new course materials.
- Refresh Auditors are guests in the class they are auditing. Auditors must commit to
keeping up with reading and homework assignments, and deferring to learners
taking the course for the first time when possible. Auditors joining a class in the
middle must demonstrate to the Training Manager or Instructor that they have
retained the prerequisite knowledge needed to keep pace with the class at its current
place in the curriculum.
- Refresh Auditing privileges are on a space-available basis, and are subject to the
final approval of the Training Manager. We reserve the right to notify students the
evening before class that a seat is not available for Refresh Audit.
